In 2022, Andrew and Lachlan met online doing what they each loved — building games and creating content. Back then we were Lachyz Studios, titled after Lachlan's handle — just two friends and a few others making things they thought would actually be fun to play. We made a few small games and some others for content to be used in videos like this one.
The first real moment came with Tiny Tilted Gun Game, a Fortnite Creative 1.0 island that went viral and proved people wanted what we were building. It was a simple game, but it was a lot of fun to play and it was a lot of fun to watch.
Once Unreal Editor for Fortnite was released, the studio rebranded as YapMaps and kept shipping bigger games with more complex systems. 30+ titles built over time, millions of plays, and a community of 60K+ followers.
Now we're working on building two things at once: the games themselves, and the content that documents building them. The studio and the journey — both live.

Lachlan is the creative and community face of YapMaps. Based in Ottawa at 19, he's been making content for years under his handle @lachyz and brings that same energy into everything the studio does. He's not just the social brain — he works in the editor too, designing games and building content that shows the real process behind it. When he's not working on games, he's out with friends, at a concert, or snowboarding.

Andrew is the technical lead behind YapMaps. At 18, he's a CS & Engineering student at the University of Iowa who started coding at 13 making games for his friends to play. He co-founded the studio from scratch, shipped solo projects like a custom arena for Loserfruit that hit 320K+ views, and is now building content about what it actually takes to grow a studio from nothing. When he's not building, he's biking, hiking, or at a football game.
